The team at Pendergrass Academy is committed to the health and safety of our Members.
We will use this page (as well as communicate via our Facebook Group and Page and E-Mail) to keep you posted.
We are taking this 1 day at a time as this is an unprecedented event that is occurring.
PREVENTATIVE MEASURES
Our Team is being very proactive in taking steps towards the health of our students and hygiene in our gym.
We have hand sanitizer readily available at the academy and antibacterial hand soap in the bathrooms.
We regularly clean our mats with commercial-grade cleaner and have increased the number of sessions of mat cleanings per day and have also increased deep cleaning sessions per week for the time being. We have also invested in a local company (Cintas) to provide us weekly with the best possibly cleaning supplies and equipment.
We are urging all students, parents and siblings to STAY HOME if you feel sick, even if the symptoms are not consistent with the coronavirus or flu. This will help the spreading of any and all illnesses. This is our policy year-round, but we are asking everyone to be especially vigilant during this time.
ONLINE CLASSES
For those who are unable to attend class due to illness or other risk factors, we do have the technology in place to allow for realtime at-home participation, including interaction from your kids’ favorite instructors.
Online Classes will begin next week.
Our entire monthly martial arts curriculum is also already available for members on our PAMA App.
GOOD FRIDAY DAY CAMP
As of today, we are still running Good Friday Day Camp.
We love our community and we love the families who live here. We are not going to let this have negative effect on your ability to go to work and make a living.
We will have limited spaces in these camps and they will be available for children ages 5-12 who are healthy and symptom free. (Touch-free temperature scans on student’s foreheads will be conducted Friday when they arrive and students must be 98.9 degrees or lower.)
If you need a safe, clean, and healthy environment for your child, as of this time, we are fully prepared to stay open and offer full-day camps from 7:00am-5:30pm if schools shut down.
FREEZING YOUR PROGRAM
As a courtesy to our members, anytime you miss more than 4 weeks of training, we have always added that missed time to the end of your Program.
If you foresee yourself being out for more than 4 weeks, please send us an e-mail requesting a freeze form and we will add your missed time to the end of your Program.
Your monthly payment will still be processed – but you won’t lose your time.
CDC PREVENTION STEPS
We are also asking our students to follow the CDC’s prevention steps below to stop the spreading of illnesses. Specifically:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
- Follow CDC’s recommendations for using a facemask (not recommended- see website)
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
- If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

LEADERS DON’T PANIC, THEY PREPARE
While we recognize the seriousness of this virus, we also recognize that remaining physically fit is an important way to ensure a healthy immune system.
Further, we believe that in frightening times, it is important for kids to maintain as much consistency as possible, within reason.
Our goal is to employ practices that reduce risk while focusing on educating our students with empathy and compassion so they can balance their emotions with logic and information.
Your children are going to follow your lead.
Make sure it’s one to follow.
Thank you for your cooperation.
We are hoping that everyone will do their part as we take every measure to keep our Academy a safe and clean environment.
