Tip#1: When you throw the first strike, you’re going to step into it. This alone will help increase the power of your strike.
Tip#2: When you do step into that strike, you’re going to rotate your hips. This will help with the upper body rotation and give a little more power. This is going to be done by rotating off of the back foot for the cross. So, when you throw that cross, your’ll be rotating on the ball of your foot. This allows your hips to turn. When you go to throw the hook, you are going to rotate on the ball of your front foot, allowing your hips to rotate.
Tip#3: And finally you want to make sure you sit down, keep your weight low. If you were to come upon your tippy toes and start throwing punches, your strike will not be very powerful.
So again, Tip#1: step in, Tip#2: let hips rotate, and Tip#3: keep your weight low. These are fairly easy to remember. So hopefully when you’re throwing this combination you’re going to be using all 3. Now check out the quick video:
