This technique will start from the De La Riva position. Whether you have double sleeve control or same side collar, or cross side collar control; your opponent is always going to be grabbing the pants. Therefore his sleeves are going to be in close proximity.
Next, you’re going to do a cross sleeve control, go to the Achilles.
Pulling your opponent’s arm across your body will break his grip on your pant leg.
From here, you’ll use your right foot on his hip to elevate your own hips then bring your bottom directly over his foot. This will allow you to get a deep De La Riva hook.
Then take your right foot and insert it behind his knee. This will help you to come around toward his back. Your left foot will help you to keep your position. It will make it hard for your opponent to turn and face you because of the foot on the hip.
Next, reach up and grab your opponent’s belt.
Pull your opponent down and kick your legs out to bump him.
Next, look for the choke, and one on one wrist control. Get your hooks in and start to take your opponent’s back.
That is the Cross Guard using the far side sleeve control to take the back. If you need a little more detail check out our YouTube video:
