Today we are going to share with you a variation of the Sumi Gaeshi Throw using the Kimura control. One of the common things that people do on a takedown is a Single Leg. So when my brother shoots in for a single his head is on the inside. You can do the Sumi Gaeshi from this position.
However, a variation we are going to go with today is to redirect the head to the outside.
If you are smaller than your partner, moving the head to the outside helps you gain access to his arm quicker. For whatever reason; he may be tall, or you’re just having a hard time stuffing his head down, that’s when we’ll move the head to the outside. Get your Kimura grip, make that slight step to square up with him.
Sit, use your foot to hook behind his thigh. This helps to guide him over. Make sure you punch his arm toward his chest. That way if he does try to turn into you, you’ve got more control here and you can start your Kimura attack sequence.
So, that is our Standing Sumi Gaeshi with a Kimura control. This is just one of the variations of the Sumi Gaeshi. below, Thanks for watching a and we’ll see you in the next video.
