As a student in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu there are a few things that we want to keep in mind while we train. We always want to be considerate of our training partners because without partners we can’t really train Jiu-Jitsu. Here are some quick tips to keep in mind:
Tip 1: Wash your gi and rash guards after every class, even if you barely sweat, it is a necessary thing to do. You could even wash your belt as well. If your a Muay Thai Student make sure to wash your hand wraps. Also making sure to wipe down your gear after every class.
Hygiene is very important. We train in a communal atmosphere. We do our part as far as keeping the facility clean. Like mopping the mats and wiping down equipment. Then you guys have to do your part in keeping your self and your things clean.
Other things to keep in mind are:
Tip 2: Never wear shoes on the mat. And never walk around the Academy or outside in your bare feet.
Tip 3: Keep fingernails and toenails short. Nobody wants to be marked by a toenail! Ugh!
Tip 4: Take a shower. Make sure this is the first thing you do when you get home. If you need to go to work after training, remember, the Academy has a shower for your use.
Tip 5: If you notice a skin infection, let us know. So that we can be aware of it. We may want you to take a day off of training or maybe see a doctor. These are few and far between but if you do happen to notice something like that be mindful and considerate of other people.
Tip 6: Take off any jewelry that you may have on and pull back long hair.
These are some simple tips to keep in mind while you train. Remember, we need our partners to help us train in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and in Muay Thai. Without them it’s impossible. So let’s have consideration for our training partners.
