Alright, guys, we’re back and we are looking at a counter movement that your partner does when you attempt to go for that arm drag from the butterfly guard position.
He’s going to post a leg up to the same side that you’re trying to take the back.
So we go with that same two on one grip, I remove the hook, I drag him but your partner steps forward with that same side leg. It makes it a lot more difficult to get to the back. So what we’re going to do is go into a single leg x position. I’m going to make sure that my leg (if it isn’t already) back underneath his leg.
We’re going to grab his ankle (the one that he’s posted up on). Keeping your hand on his ankle, we’re going to shrimp underneath him. That foot is going to go to his hip and we’re going to keep our knees pinched tight. So we’re in the single leg x position. A lot of guys like to put their foot to the mat or even better you can put a butterfly hook just up under the thigh.
We’re going to kick him away to be able to come up to this position. But before we do that we’re going to circle under.
The use of the butterfly hook is very important to help push the weight off. As I push him off, now I come up on the palm of my hand, to technical stand up.
You can drive into him or you can pull him up underneath you. Which is even better, right? Because sometimes when you push into the guy he may topple over or he may run out of the ring, right?
So that is the counter when you try to do the arm drag from the butterfly guard and your partner posts, we go to a single leg x position and go for the technical stand up. If you enjoy the videos be sure to subscribe to YouTube, give us a thumbs up. Thanks again.
